Unlike some "copy shops" who use only digital printers/copiers, Columbus Square Quickprint offers traditional offset printing as well. Larger quantities of 1-, 2- or 3- spot color inks (e.g. black, black + red) can be run on our press at a relatively low cost in most situations.
The offset printing method employs the knowledge that oil and water do not mix, and the printing plate is photochemically treated to accept the oils from the ink or repels the ink using water (actually a mixture known as a fountain solution). This method of printing was adapted from lithography and is often referred to as offset-lithography printing. Many print shops, including ours, use a sheet-fed press, meaning the printing is done on single sheets of paper as they are fed through the press one at a time, as opposed to a web pres, where paper is on a continous roll the way a newspaper is printed.
